Kim Masland is planning to relocate her Liverpool constituency office, but she probably doesn’t need to book a moving truck.
The Queens-Shelburne MLA is shifting two doors down from her current location at 279 Main St. to the former Queens County Advance building at 271 Main St.
“It’s a much more functional office space,” Masland told the Observer. “It’s just overall a better environment for when constituents come in.”
The new location has a large meeting room that will better accommodate groups of people, she said. “I’ll be able to sit and meet with them, without being jammed into an office.”
The change of address will also improve working conditions for staff. “One of my assistants actually works from a table in the hallway,” she said. “This will give her a confidential room to meet with constituents.”
Both buildings have the same owner and Masland said her rent will stay the same despite the increased office space. According to published expense reports, the rookie MLA pays $1,173.91 a month to 3278658 Nova Scotia Ltd. for her current office. Eric and Karen Goulden are listed as directors of that company.
Masland said she expects to be in the new location by early February.
