Region of Queens Municipality will hold a rare evening meeting of council next week.
The Jan. 8 meeting will begin immediately following a 6 p.m. public hearing into the sale of the former Mount Pleasant School to Queens Daycare Association for $1.
The agenda for the council meeting is unusually light, with only three items set for public consideration.
Stephen Hopper of North Queens Ground Search and Rescue is scheduled to make a presentation about the organization’s budgetary challenges. Council documents indicate he will request funding of $8,400 for fiscal year 2019-20.
Council members will consider a recommendation from engineering and public works director Brad Rowter that an application be made for federal and provincial funding in the amount of $4.5 million. The money would help fund a three-year project designed to stop untreated sewer discharge from entering Liverpool Harbour via William and Waterloo streets.
Council will also discuss its meeting schedule for upcoming budget deliberations.
