Elvis tribute returns to Astor with a country twist

By Observer Staff

Elvis Presley tribute act Thane Dunn and the Cadillac Kings will bring a new country-themed show to the Astor Theatre Dec. 8.

“Elvis Rock & Country” will feature Presley’s iconic rock songs, from “Blue Suede Shoes” to “Suspicious Minds,” as well as country hits like “Always on My Mind” and “Kentucky Rain,” the Astor said in a news release.

Melly Dunn, known as “The Rhinestone Cowgirl,” will open the event with her “Queens of Country Music” salute to Loretta Lynn, Tammy Wynette and Patsy Cline. “(Melly) has wowed them from Nashville to Memphis and is worth the price of admission alone,” the news release said.

Thane Dunn’s show is endorsed by several people who actually worked and performed with Presley. His previous performances at the Astor have sold-out.

“I love the intimate feel of the Astor Theatre and all the amazing people who come out and support us,” he said. “This has been called our best show yet and I can’t wait.”

Tickets are $45.00 and can be purchased online or at the box office.
